Lenny Kravitz and Negrophilia

Remember Thanksgiving 2003? Right. It was after that, that Lenny Kravitz and Nicole Kidman broke up; and I have to confess I wasn't even the teeniest bit sad. I just found the image of them together too grating. Kravitz, Mr. Funky Cool just didn't seem to match with Kidman's Ice Princess style. Not that she and Tom made for sweet harmony either but that's a different story.

Now that I look at Lenny preparing his upcoming Negrophilia album my thoughts then came flooding back. I do remember wondering then:

Why would Nicole Kidman be attracted to Lenny Kravitz and vice versa?

And yes those "what attracts white women to black men", and "why black men love white women" "black men white wife" issues were tightly rolled up in there too.

Interestingly I recall thinking

• it would never last,
  
• neither of them truly loved each other and
  
• they both entered into it because it was different.
  

That Nicole was enjoying the attention of doing something so unconventional, so atypical and that Lenny as usual was being different and this was something new to add to his arsenal.
I mean just look at this guy. Is Lenny the sexiest black man around or what?

And Nicole hoped to bag this guy? Puhlease girl! Hey Keith Urban is hot too but just not as mind blowingly erotic as this luscious specimen. Well I guess I just answered what attracted Nicole and I guess so many women, not only white women, to black men. Lots of the black hunks I know have a style that seems unique to them, intrinsic to their nature and difficult to mimic. That style speaks to an undeniable sexual energy, confidence in their masculinity and seductive appeal. And if he has gotten a hot fashion sense plus undeniable talent, then he is just too much, too hot to handle to hard to avoid.

And here's the thing the urban dictionary defines Negrophilia as:

The sexual preference of white women for black men.

We have got to assume that Lenny knows what he is talking about because rumour has it that he has only had one relationship with a black woman, who was his wife and the mother of his child. She is of course Lisa Bonet.

But then they are both bi-racial and perhaps came from a position of not being restricted by race of appreciating the beauty of the mix. Some women ask how come he has had only one black woman. Who cares? Lenny looks like a guy who just loves people. After Lisa there was the Swedish model, then there was the Brazilian Adriana Lima and then the Australian princess. The man is a global lover.

Given his family background we wouldn't be surprised however if Lenny comes up with the reverse in a few years. ie.

Why black women like white men.

I mean look at Lenny's dad.
